Black Phoenix Group has been a leading innovator in the use of digital tools to create efficiencies within the residential brokerage business practice. As part of this commitment to innovation, we have created an integrated technology platform which provides clients with increased transparency into their homes' status as well as access to other homebuyers via social media channels.
This innovative approach has allowed us to grow exponentially over the past three years.
The Phoenix
Black Phoenix Group is named after the mythical Phoenix rising from the ashes; covered in char, ash, and fire. The Phoenix is a symbol of renewal, rebirth, and the growth that comes from starting anew. For our company, it means a fresh start and a chance to build a brokerage that is fiercely committed to our clients, and environment and philanthropy.

I have been a lifelong native of Des Moines, and I'm proud to call it my home. I have over 16 years of real estate experience, ranked among the top-tier agents nationwide, and was honored with the 2016 Realtor Magazine 30 under 30 award.
In addition to being a driven agent in a highly competitive industry, I also commit myself to my community through various philanthropic endeavors and volunteer efforts. In particular, I enjoy giving back by supporting organizations that focus on environmental sustainability because it is important for future generations to be able to enjoy our planet as much as we do today.
Outside of work hours, you will find me in one of two places: either exploring the great outdoors or enjoying time with my family.

I started in this industry on a whim six years ago when I saw a posting for a real estate administrative position that opened up for a local broker. I’ve had my hand in hundreds of real estate transactions over the years with Zac, and on solo missions. I’ve never been more grateful to myself for taking the risk on trying something new, and even more grateful to have landed in the right place to learn, grow and gain the most work experience in such a short time period.
I am a mother to two beautiful tiny humans with my husband in Ames. Running and reading are my sources for escapism and entertainment, which is great because I can do both at the same time with a great audiobook. Everything eclectic and vintage holds my personality hostage, second to iced coffee of course. Working and living between Ames and Des Moines for the past decade keeps me busy for sure, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Athena
Brand Ambassador
Let's face it; most people come here just to see Athena. She's our fearsome little leader who always represents the brand. Athena has over 11 years of marketing experience and understands what the consumer is actually looking for; unlimited puppy time and pets. She sleeps more than she's awake but still has the ability to produce top-of-the-line marketing in her waking hours. When she isn't working, she can be found on runs, digging holes, and occasionally climbing a mountain. Athena doesn't have any contact information as she's not old enough for a cellphone.
Winter
Chief of international pet relations
Winter is a new(er) addition to the Black Phoenix team. He brings a robust amount of energy to the table. His previous role as a professional arborist at the Villa of Windsor Heights taught him about dedication and attention to detail. He's looking forward to starting in the new and refreshing real estate world, lending his negotiation talents and passion for creating a fantastic client pet experience.
